NASA Finds Life : GFAJ-1
Today’s Drawing is an ode to our new little arsenic-building friend pleasantly titled GFAJ-1. NASA announced today that this bacteria is, “unlike anything currently living in planet Earth.” (Jesus Diaz/Gizmodo) This of course knocks all assumptions of the elemental make up of life on it’s ass. Yes, I did just say that. This lovely bacteria lives in Mono Lake within California. Nice enough address. What’s amazing about this microbe sized devil is that is uses arsenic instead of phosphorous to create DNA and of course it’s amazing novelty. I can’t wait to see what the Postal Service does with it’s stamp and of course what comes of this and ALL the other discoveries that are now around the corner.
